Standards
The Race in Six Legs

Singles & Doubles Rules
Singles athletes complete the entire prescribed race individually — all six 600m runs and all six stations in published order, using the movement standards and equipment for their division.
- Running distance may not be divided or delegated.
- All station work must be completed by the registered athlete.
- Athletes must remain on the designated course and follow judge and course-marshal instructions.
- The athlete is responsible for completing the required work, distances, repetitions, and lap counts.
Applies to Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles (same-gender teams).
- Running: Both partners must complete all six 600m runs. The running distance cannot be divided.
- Row & Ski: Partners may divide the 1,000m distance freely with unlimited switches. One athlete may complete the entire distance. On each switch, the resting athlete must stand behind the working athlete.
- Lunges, Sandbag Carry, Burpee Broad Jumps, Wall Balls: Work may be divided; unlimited switches subject to each station's rules.
- Station area: Both partners must remain within their assigned station area until complete.
- Work: Only one partner may perform prescribed station work at a time unless a station rule explicitly allows otherwise.
Applies to Mixed Doubles (one man & one woman). All Doubles rules apply, with these additions:
- Wall Balls: Each athlete uses the prescribed ball weight and target height for their own division (Open or Pro) and gender.
- Running: Both partners must complete all six 600m runs. The running distance cannot be divided.
- Row & Ski: Unlimited switches. Partners may split unevenly or have one complete the full distance. On each switch, the resting athlete must stand behind the working athlete.
- Lunges, Sandbag Carry, Burpee Broad Jumps, Wall Balls: Work may be divided; unlimited switches subject to each station's rules.
- Station area: Both partners must remain within their assigned station area until complete.

Course Standards
Each 600m running segment = three complete 200m laps around the designated perimeter course. Six runs total = 3,600m.
- Athletes must remain on the designated running course and follow course markings, barriers, signage, judges, and course marshals.
- Chip timing is provided, but athletes are responsible for knowing and maintaining their own lap count.
- Faster athletes have the right of way. Slower athletes should allow room to pass when safe.
- Outside pacing is permitted.
- Physical assistance that provides a competitive advantage is prohibited. Brief encouragement contact is permitted.
- Doubles: Both partners must complete all three laps of every 600m. Neither may begin the next station until both arrive.
- If an athlete enters the wrong station/lane, the mistake must be corrected before continuing. No automatic penalty if corrected without gain.
- Head Judge / Competition Director has final authority on lap counts, violations, penalties, disqualifications, and disputes.

How the $10,000 Is Allocated
Final 2nd- and 3rd-place amounts (and any amount above the $1,000 first-place minimum) will be finalized after registration closes and division participation is confirmed.
Prize amounts awarded to a Doubles division represent the total payout to the team, not per-athlete. For example: a $1,000 Doubles prize = $1,000 total for the two-person team ($500/each).
Open divisions are not eligible for cash prizes. Open podium finishers receive event awards, and 1st-place Open finishers/teams receive complimentary entry to HERD FEST: HYBRID RACE 2027.
Tie-Break Procedure
If athletes or teams post an identical official race time in a position affecting the podium or prize money, official timing data is used to break the tie.
Payment, Eligibility & Fine Print
- Payment timing: Prize money paid within 30 days after the event; HERD FEST aims to pay sooner once results are verified. Payments may be issued by check.
- Tax documentation: Winners must provide required payment and tax docs (including Form W-9 where applicable) before payment is issued. Winners are responsible for federal, state, and local tax obligations.
- Eligibility: Athlete/team must complete the prescribed race, receive an official finishing result, comply with published race and movement standards, and not be disqualified.
- Final results: Payouts are based on finalized official results — including penalties, timing reviews, tie-breaks, and disqualifications — and are not final until certified by HERD FEST race officials.
- HERD FEST reserves the right to publish the final podium payout breakdown after registration closes and Pro division participation is finalized.
